The Messner Mountain Museum Ripa (from the Tibetan: ri pa - mountain man) located within the historic castle at Bruneck, offers an immersive experience into the world of the culture of the mountain people of the world. This unique museum is the brainchild of legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, providing visitors with an insightful journey into the history, art, and traditions of mountainous regions.

Upon entering the castle, visitors are greeted by the castles courtyard with large statues from around the world. The museum blends with the ancient fortress, accentuating its cultural significance. The exhibition winds through the ancient staircases and rooms of the castle displaying artifacts in sections based on regions.

The unique aspect of Messner Mountain Museum Ripa lies in its focus on the cultures of mountain regions across the globe. Multiple galleries are dedicated to exploring the distinctive lifestyles, traditions, and beliefs of mountain communities worldwide. After a filling up on culture, visitors can indulge in a delightful culinary experience at the museum's courtyard café. We enjoyed a delectable apfelstrudel and cappucino. And yes it was in the afternoon.
