The Karajan RS Turbo

The Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan's unique Porsche RS Turbo

Herbert von Karajan had a passion for Porsches. So much so he had one built with his name on. Literally. The Austrian conductor special ordered a 1974 Type 930 with instructions it should weigh less than 1000 kg and its power-to-weight ratio should be well under 4 kg per hp.

The Karajan Turbo sits on the racing chassis of an RSR and has the body, suspension and rollover bars of an RS. Classic Porsche lightweight construction with a steel roll cage, a larger turbocharger and a sharper camshaft.

Topping it off a Martini Racing paint job from the 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1 that finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1974. Music to his ears no doubt.

The car has now had 6 owners and valued at $3 million sadly resides in a secret Swiss collection.
